09.06.1940. Contest between Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi. Coppi didn’t worry about playing second fiddle, he beat Bartali and became one of the greatest riders in the history.

10.06.1956. Snow and frost. Charly Gaul won climbing the monte Bondone in bad weather day. 4 degrees and snow. Gaul arrived slightly frozen.

12.06.1968. The cannibal. Eddie Merckxs won his first Giro.

07.06.1998. The year of the pirate. National hero Marco Pantani climbed the Italian peaks like an ibex.

19.05.2003. World record set. Mario Cipollini won 42 stages.
